Banco Santander Totta distinguished BERD, for the second consecutive year, with 2013 Top Exporta Award, in Services Category.
This prize, that aims to distinguish and support Portuguese exporting companies with best performance, is awarded according to a rank of large, medium and small private companies.
TOP Exporta 2013 Conference “Export Sucess, Import the Futur” took place on 12 November last and BERD was represented by its CFO, Dr. Rodrigo Graça Moura.

The Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS) is a virtual dynamic library that integrates multiple sources of knowledge focused on sustainable development. A publication designed for the future, which is meant to be a global guide to professional practice, education and raise social awareness about the critical issues of life support. Coordinated by the UNESCO-EOLSS Committee, this project has benefited from contributions of more than 8000 reputed authors from nearly 100 countries. EOLSS presents itself as the result of a global effort which attempts to forge pathways between disciplines in order to solve contemporary problems.
BERD’s Movable Scaffolding Systems are outlined on page 22 in the Civil Engineering – Bridge Erection Machines chapter, for the use of the innovative Organic Prestressing System (OPS) inspired by the human muscles. Given the significant reduction of internal stresses and deformations, BERD’s Movable Scaffolding Systems are different from conventional systems. Its lighter and functional structures allow an increase in load capacity and its constant monitoring system brings highest levels of safety.
Banco Espírito Santo and Jornal de Negócios established a partnership with Coface and McKinsey & Company in order to create the Internationalization & Export Awards. This event aims to distinguish companies with the best export performance and rewards success stories in an internationalization context.
The prize-giving ceremony was held on November 7 at Ritz Four Seasons Hotel, in Lisbon, and was attended by Álvaro Santos Pereira, Minister of Economy. Represented by its Vice-President Sales & Marketing – Diogo Graça Moura, BERD was awarded with an Honorable Mention in the “Best SME Exporter” category, for its performance in 2010.
The Tekla Global BIM Awards competition is a way to express appreciation towards Tekla customers and share their success stories worldwide.
Showcasing their models celebrates the versatility of Tekla Structures software and demonstrates how its use affects the landscapes around the world. Tekla Structures has played and will play a great role in building many of the complex and iconic structures seen and admired by all of us every day.
The entries to the Global BIM Awards competition were the winners of regional Tekla model competitions held by Tekla area offices or resellers during 2010. The competition was divided into three categories:
• BIM projects
• Steel Structures projects
• Concrete and other projects
BERD’s M70-S Movable Scaffolding System Project was selected as one of the BEST projects in the Steel Structures category, among uncountable worldwide projects.
The event promoted by Construir Magazine, aims to distinguish projects, personalities and companies who have highlighted over the past year. The selection of the nominees is made by the Construir magazine editorial team based on the market relevance, creativity, innovation & quality of the projects criteria.
BERD is being once again recognized for the quality of its work, through the nomination of Prof. Pedro Pacheco, President & CEO of the company for the category of Engineering – Personality Award. The 4th Meeting of the COTEC Innovative SME Network took place on the November, 9th. Apart from the delivery of the SME Innovation Award, 27 new companies were also admitted to COTEC Innovative SME Network, of which BERD proudly part of. COTEC endorses an expanding Innovative SME Network based in Portugal but operating internationally and in alliances through a culture of growth, results and good practices.
The priorities of COTEC within the scope of such SME Network are to promote and gain public recognition for this group of companies that reflect, through innovation and competence, the right market attitude and the value creation skills needed to succeed in today’s changing world, and to encourage cooperation between COTEC associate companies and the SME based on innovation and skills, so that business opportunities can flourish and the innovation market in Portugal expand and prosper.
