[:en]Last November 14th the Millenium Horizontes Awards Ceremony took place and BERD was one of the three SME winners in the Innovation Category.
The Millenium Horizontes Awards are a Millenium bcp iniciative, in partnership with Global Media Group, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Cotec Portugal and AICEP Portugal.
These awards aim to distinguish the Portuguese companies that stand out. From a total of 2167 applications only 39 companies were rewarded.

In 2017, faced with the unfortunate events of the natural phenomenon known as “El Niño Costero”, which resulted in hundreds of bridges damaged and even collapsed, MBS by BERD made the decision to come to Peru in order to show the new technologies on modular bridges, through which, among many other advantages that result from our Engineering and experience in the design of this type of metal structures, for example, it is possible to solve open spans of up to 120m.

At the end of 2018 BERD participated and won a public tender called by the Ministry of Transport and Communications for the supply of 125 modular bridges with spans from 15 to 60 meters.

The Modular Bridges were manufactured in Turkey and the 6000 tons of steel were shipped to Peru in more of 300 containers. The first delivery to the client was successfully made in July in Paita and the second lot is on its way to be delivered in August in Lima.

BERD & FEUP (Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto) signed, last Tuesday 28 July, the WIBE PRIZE – World Innovation in Bridge Engineering Protocol.

The subject of WIBE 2017 Prize is a Paper in the field of Bridge Engineering.

The winner of the WIBE 2017 Prize will be the author or authors of a “Paper” that demonstrates the greatest potential of innovation and contributes to the development of Bridge Engineering worldwide, selected by a qualified Jury that is to be essentially nominated by the most recognized international associations (10/ 13 members).

Pre-registration is now open on website www.fe.up.pt/wibe for applications to the prize in the amount of 50.000 USD.

After being awarded as SME Leader for the fifth consecutive year BERD was distinguished, last January 26, with the attribution of 2014 SME Excellency Status.

The SME Excellency Status distinguishes Small and Medium Enterprises that show best performances and management indicators of the previous year, having BERD being recognized as one of the 1845 SME Excellency companies from a total of 350 00 National SME.
